I don’t believe we have the luxury of writing in candidates’ names, particularly in swing states. As a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I have thought deeply about this and because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I will be voting for Kamala Harris.

And finally, John McCain’s son Jimmy, and Army First Lieutenant, announced that he’s changed his voter registration to Democrat and plans to support Vice President Kamala Harris in November. For him, the last straw was the Trump team’s desecration of the hallowed ground of Arlington National Cemetery. His change of heart comes for years after his mother, Cindy, endorsed Joe Biden at the 2020 DNC.
In the Wake of Georgia Tragedy, Vance Shrugs Off School Shootings as “A Fact of Life,” Avoids Discussing the Root Cause
Well, that’s my take. He said:
I don’t like this. I don’t like to admit this. I don’t like that this is a fact of life. But if you’re, if you are a psycho and you want to make headlines, you realize that our schools are soft targets, and we have got to bolster security at our schools. We’ve got to bolster security, so that if a psycho wants to walk through the front door and kill a bunch of children, they’re not able to. And again, as a parent, do I want my kids’ school to have additional security? No, of course, I don’t. I don’t want my kids to go to school in a place where they feel like you’ve got to have additional security. But that is increasingly the reality that we live in.
Essentially, he’s saying that we can’t address the problem at its root — a country awash in guns and weapons of war available to most anyone — so we need to spend millions on security guards to make schools armed fortresses…and by the way, how did that work out at Parkland?
There is certainly a better way…and BTW, JD, this happens in movie theatres, grocery stores, Wal-Marts, shopping malls, and churches, too.

At a news conference after the Winder, GA shooting, Governor Brian Kemp said: “Today is not the day for politics or policy. Today is a day for an investigation [and] to mourn these precious Georgians that we have lost.” More “thoughts and prayers,” but for God’s sake NO TALK OF ACTION.
When GA rated “F” in the strength of its gun laws a few years back, Kemp famously boasted: “I’ll wear this ‘F’ as a badge of honor.”1
HE NEEDS TO WEAR THAT F EVERY DAY UNTIL HE TAKES SOME ACTION.

The nonprofit group Everytown for Gun Safety ranks Georgia 46th in the country for gun law strength, in a tier of states referred to as “national failures.” The Giffords Law Center, another organization that advocates for stricter gun measures, gives Georgia an F rating on its annual scorecard, faulting the state for lacking rules such as universal background checks and red-flag laws. During his term as governor, Kemp has expanded gun rights, including signing a 2022 bill that allows residents to carry a concealed handgun in public without a permit. When Giffords delivered Georgia its failing grade, Kemp replied: ‘I’ll wear this ‘F’ as a badge of honor.’ ”

Cheneys Join Republicans for Harris
Speaking at Duke University on Wednesday this week, Liz Cheney said that it is not enough for real conservatives to eschew voting for Trump: to save the country she will — and they should — vote for Harris.

The Cheneys thus join the likes of former Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger, Mesa, AZ Mayor John Giles, and former Lieutenant Governor of Georgia Geoff Duncan who made a similar case at the recent Democratic National Convention; former White House lawyers who served in the administrations of then-Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush; and more than 200 Republicans who worked for President George W. Bush, Sen. Mitt Romney, or the late Sen. John McCain….
