Surely you have heard about the terrorist attack on New Orlean’s iconic Bourbon Street on New Year’s Eve that killed 14 people and injured dozens.

You may not have heard — and I want to be sure you do — that our once-and-future President jumped on that horrific act to once again lie about immigrants and the border. To further his agenda.

Here’s the facts. Texas-born-and-raised Army veteran Shamsud-Din Jabbar rented a truck in Houston and drove it into crowds on the New Orleans sidewalk.

And Trump once again ignored the facts and implied that this attack resulted because dangerous criminals were pouring across the border:

And doubled down, long after the facts were clear….

Meanwhile “Godly Mike” Johnson Amplifies the Lie…

The “chosen one,” Speaker Mike Johnson — a Louisianan who makes a great show of his Christian Nationalist piety— also had no compunction about using such a lie to push…whatever the f**k their agenda is:

“Wide open border” played a role in an attack by a Texan in a truck rented in Houston????

…And Not Surprisingly, the Lie Originated with FOX “News”

The first on-air mention of this story occurred at 10:40 a.m. ET, with Fox News reporter Alexis McAdams noting that correspondents David Spunt and Griff Jenkins were “working their sources” to find out that “this person came through Eagle Pass, Texas, two days ago.”

During Fox News’ live coverage seven minutes later, Spunt noted that the “vehicle was traced to coming across from Mexico into the United States at Eagle Pass, Texas, two days ago.” Pointing out Jenkins had also contributed to the report, Spunt said they didn’t know “100 percent if this man… was the person driving who crossed the border,” adding the “actual license plate was picked up by a reader at a border crossing”…Meanwhile, the network ran a chyron on air that blared: “SOURCES: SUSPECT’S TRUCK CROSSED BORDER 2 DAYS AGO.” — How Fox News’ retracted New Orleans report sparked a MAGA meltdown about the border, The Independent

So, back to the title of this article, Will Trump's DNI and FBI Directors Call Out His Lies?

The American people desperately need people in these positions — Director of National Intelligence and Director of the FBI — who will not only investigate and seek the truth on issues like this, but who will stand up to their boss and tell him the truth…and tell US the truth even when The Boss wants to turn it into a lie to stoke his base and push his agenda.
