Donald Trump a paragon of truth? Republican voters evidently think so, or at least say they think so. According to a CBS poll, they believe Trump more than their friends and family and their pastors. This is beyond comprehension. Even among a population that might only get its information from the proven liars at FOX “news” or Newsmax.
Some of these folks must be delusional, and beyond hope. But I’m inclined to believe that a whole bunch of these voters:
Can’t admit they fell for a huckster – no, a political gangster – because they won’t admit their mistake to their friends and family.
Know he’s a liar who ran a multi-pronged plot to stay in power after losing an election, but don’t care, because he’s their guy, and he hates who they hate. They glory in his bullying bluster and don’t give a damn if democracy dies.
It’s well past time to give these people the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps in 2016 a vote against the status quo was understandable for the many people and rural regions that were left behind in a global economy as neither party represented their interests. It’s not understandable today, as a second Trump administration would clearly end US democracy.
Here’s a wake-up call to that cohort – Joe Biden with his policies to build the economy “from the bottom up and the middle out” is your champion, even if you won’t recognize that. Case in point – all the infrastructure and green projects occurring in red states.
Pay attention, folks. Following Trump and his cult will continue to bury you in poverty and ignorance. Maybe you think the thrills you get as he insults “the elites” (i.e., those who paid attention in school and who use their power of reasoning and reject “alternative facts”) is worth it. If you want that, have at it.
19 indicted in GA; why not Graham?
Trump and 18 others were indicted for conspiring to overturn the results of Georgia’s election. For lying to the legislature about election fraud. For being fake electors. For lying about and threatening election workers. For asking election officials to “find 11,780 votes.”
I was hoping to see the hypocritical and slippery Lindsey Graham among the indicted, but was disappointed. I guess his implied suggestion to throw out votes got the benefit of the doubt. But what the heck was a senator from SC doing calling the GA Secretary of State?

Where is the “party of law and order as grand jury members are threatened?
Judges in Trump’s various cases are receiving death threats. Now the Fulton County grand jurors who voted to indict the Trump gang are getting threatened. He pointedly doesn’t discourage it - in fact he foments it. This is Trump’s America. This is who “his people” are. Where the heck are those bastions of the party that once purported to be the party of “law and order” and why are they not calling this out?
Maybe former prosecutor Chris Christie will show up.
