We’re in the penultimate day of our three+ week circuit of the Pacific Northwest, and once again I want to share some scenes we’ve been privileged to experience. The main purpose of our trip was to see children, grandchildren and an aunt who is the last “greatest generation” member of our family, but we made plenty of time for side trips, scenic drives, and hikes.
We travelled from the northern Oregon coast, to the Puget Sound (Tacoma and Vashon Island), to Snoqualmie Falls (WA), to Coeur d’Alene ID.
This region is so different from my native east coast. Mountains are higher and sharper and the oceans are mostly rougher and colder…as is the spring air. Lots of moisture, and the climate — as well as the terrain — is what I fondly describe as “elemental.”
There is a similarity, however, between the rocky, elemental Maine coast and the coast of the Pacific Northwest that we experienced.
Before I paste in some pictures, though, I am re-posting the blog entry I sent yesterday. It had several typos that I wanted to correct. I had been rushing to complete it at Coeur d’Alene’s Public Library, as our Airbnb had an internet outage. So here is the corrected version…
Now to the pics…
…Thanks for humoring my digression…
