Keep Saying it -- Trump Aspires to Join the Autocrats Club

...don't be deterred by Republican bleating about that speaking that truth incites violence...that's how they're trying to silence you

Predictably, MAGA types are blaming President Biden and Democrats for the attempted assassination of former President Trump by a 20-year-old registered Republican gun enthusiast using an AR-style rifle (you know, the one R congressmen like to wear on their lapels).

He’s not the only one. Former special advisor to GW Bush (where he was a colleague of Karl Rove) and frequent advisor to Mitch McConnell, Scott Jennings, blamed Biden’s characterization of Trump and what’s at stake in this election for the assassination attempt on CNN within minutes of the attempt.

DON’T BUY IT. It is simply more of Trumpworld’s projection…they accuse others of committing the same blatant transgressions they commit. Trump has gloried in violence since first becoming a candidate. And is there a more blatant promotion of political violence than Trump’s incitement speech of January 6, 2021 in which he ordered his followers to assault the Capitol?

Is there a more blatant condoning of political violence than Trump’s — and all of MAGA-world’s — characterization of the January 6 thugs as “patriots” and “political prisoners” whom he intends to pardon if he wins?

But even more, what this is all about is to try to neuter Democrats by making them shy away from pointing out Trump’s authoritarian aspirations, because (Republicans claim) making that case has and will incite violence.

One might go as far as to suggest that the attempted assassination was a gift to Trump because Republicans will attempt to say that campaign statements warning about the danger MAGA poses to democracy are extreme, and led to the attack.

You’re gonna hear a lot of that over the next four days.

It’s BS and should be aggressively repudiated, ridiculed, and otherwise ignored. We should continue to make that case, and to point out the extremism laid out in the blueprint for Trump 2.0, otherwise known as Project 2025. You can access the complete document here.

So DON’T CHANGE A THING when you talk to family members, friends, co-workers about our choice in November. This is the same dangerous thug he was before he was shot; maybe more dangerous because to his cult members he’s now even more of a martyr.

He must be stopped — but by ballots, not bullets.
