Media accounts say that this meeting to craft the cover-up was supposed to happen at the VP’s residence, but was then shifted (after they lied about it even being planned) to the White House after news about it leaked. CNN reported:
A much-anticipated meeting between Attorney General Pam Bondi (author’s note: who has told Trump his name appears frequently in the Epstein files) FBI Director Kash Patel, Vice President JD Vance and others was moved from Vance’s residence to the White House Wednesday night after intense media coverage, a source familiar with the logistics told CNN.
They discussed a number of topics, including the Jeffrey Epstein case and potential next steps, the source said.
The meeting was originally planned to take place at Vance’s DC home and was also supposed to include White House chief of staff Susie Wiles and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, CNN previously reported. The administration’s handling of the Epstein case, as well as the need to craft a unified response, was expected to be a main focus of the dinner.
The Bulwark also reported that: “alas, the dinner was canceled. Their planned high-level strategy session was called off after word of it leaked out. They’ll now have to get together in less pleasant surroundings to tweak their Epstein coverup.”

Trump Shoots the Messenger when Bureau of Labor Statistics Shows Dismal Jobs Report
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Friday removed the head of the agency that produces the monthly jobs figures after a report showed hiring slowed in July and was much weaker in May and June than previously reported.
Trump…alleged that the figures were manipulated for political reasons and said that Erika McEntarfer, the director of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, who was appointed by former President Joe Biden,[1] should be fired. He provided no evidence for the charge [but said] “I have directed my Team to fire this Biden Political Appointee, IMMEDIATELY…She will be replaced with someone much more competent and qualified…In my opinion, today’s Jobs Numbers were RIGGED in order to make the Republicans, and ME, look bad.”…The charge that the data was faked is an explosive one that threatens to undercut the political legitimacy of the U.S. government’s economic data, which has long been seen as the “gold standard” of economic measurement globally. Economists and Wall Street investors have for decades generally accepted the data as free from political bias…McEntarfer’s firing was roundly condemned by a group that included two former BLS commissioners, including William Beach, who was appointed by Trump to the position. They particularly objected to the charge that the data was altered for political reasons.
“This rationale for firing Dr. McEntarfer is without merit and undermines the credibility of federal economic statistics that are a cornerstone of intelligent economic decision-making by businesses, families, and policymakers,” the statement from the group, the Friends of BLS, said.
In addition to Beach, the statement was signed by Erica Groshen, BLS commissioner under former President Barack Obama.
“Firing the Commissioner ... when the BLS revises jobs numbers down (as it routinely does) threatens to destroy trust in core American institutions, and all government statistics,” Arin Dube, an economist at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, said on X. “I can’t stress how damaging this is.”
We’ve gone forever relying on this data produced by non-partisan professionals. Sure, hacks like Rush Limbaugh used to try to raise doubts about healthy economic indicators when Obama was in the White House, but no one but the blowhard’s followers paid any attention to that nonsense.
But if and when Trump lackeys are placed in these data-reporting positions – on employment, inflation, or anything else – who’s gonna believe the numbers businesses, investors, and policy-makers rely on?

The Trump administration is canceling almost $500 million in contracts to develop mRNA vaccines to protect the U.S. against future viral threats. The move thrilled critics of the technology but horrified many public health and biosecurity experts.
The federal Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), which oversees the nation's defenses against biological attacks, is terminating 22 contracts with university researchers and private companies to develop new uses for the mRNA technology, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced Tuesday.
The mRNA technology was used by the first Trump administration to create the most commonly used COVID-19 vaccines, which are widely considered a medical triumph that safely and effectively saved millions of lives. But vaccine mandates during the pandemic sowed fierce antipathy toward the technology, leading to widespread public opposition….The announcement dismayed many who study infectious disease.
"This may be the most dangerous public health judgment that I've seen in my 50 years in this business," says Michael Osterholm, who runs the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota. "It is baseless, and we will pay a tremendous price in terms of illnesses and deaths. I'm extremely worried about it."
